Any time you add a domain as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that specific company. On their end, three records are set up automatically when the domain name is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain address where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that manages the emails for that particular Internet domain. The site and the e-mail hosting are often perceived as one thing, while they are actually two different services. Having separate records for them will enable you to have them with different providers if you'd like. As an illustration, some new provider could have outstanding uptime for your site, but you might not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by using an A record to point the Internet domain to the former and MX records to have the emails with the latter, you will get the best of both providers. These records are checked whenever you want to open a site or send an email - in either case, the service provider whose name servers are used for the domain name will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you are going to see the needed website or your email will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes with each and every Linux shared hosting which we offer you, allows you to view, modify and create A and MX records for every Internet domain or subdomain inside your account. Through the DNS Records section, you are going to be able to see a list of all hosts inside the account in alphabetical order with their corresponding records, so any update is not going to take you more than a couple of clicks. Setting up new records is as easy if, as an example, you would like to use the email services of another service provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default 2. You may also set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. Quite simply, when your emails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it will contact the next one. With our state-of-the-art tool, you'll be able to control the records of your domains and subdomains effortlessly even though you may have no previous experience with such matters.
